Surrender a Pet

It is difficult for both owner and companion when the strong bond they have built has to be broken due to unforeseen or unavoidable life circumstances. Proof of this came in the year of our Golden Anniversary, when Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast and displaced thousands of companion animals. The cry for help went far and wide, and we responded by offering 25% of our available kennel space to canine victims of one of our nation’s worst natural disasters in history.

Since its founding in 1955, CGHS/SPCA has compassionately offered surrender services to residents of Columbia and Greene Counties. Our doors are open for dogs, cats, birds and any other homeless animals.

Surrenders are by appointment only. Prior to coming in with your pet, please call us at (518) 828-6044 ext. 3 to understand our full policies regarding surrenders.
